MATCHA GREEN TEA SMOOTHIE OR ICED LATTE

Matcha Green Tea Smoothie or Iced Latte image

If you've read a newspaper or watched the news recently you've probably heard about all the health benefits of drinking Green Tea. It has tons of antioxidents and helps boost metabolism and helps you burn more fat and thus lose more weight. I enjoy drinking green tea and occasionally I enjoy a Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino, or a Jamba Juice Matcha Smoothie Blast. This recipe is one I developed to be able to enjoy these smoothies at home. I think it tastes great and is really good for your health too. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Please note that this recipe does require premium matcha green tea powder. This is not just regular green tea leaves pulverized. This premium powder can be purchased at Japanese grocers, or online. I happen to purchase mine on that popular online auction site I'm sure you're familiar with. I use the "Usucha" (or thin) matcha green tea powder that comes straight from Kyoto, Japan. Feel free to contact me if you need help finding this tea and I can show you where to purchase it directly. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

ICED CHAI/ESPRESSO LATTE

Iced Chai/Espresso Latte image

All the caffeine of espresso with the flavor of chai :) Use 2 tea bags for an extra strong flavor. I like to top with whipped cream and sprinkled cinnamon or drizzled honey. Tip: If you don't have an espresso machine and use regular strength coffee, you can vary the recipe as follows: 1) brew coffee; 2) place tea bags & sugar in hot coffee to soak and place in the refrigerator to chill; 3) mix with half n half.

Provided by heidi

Categories     Beverages

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 -2 chai tea teabags
2 tablespoons ground coffee
2 -3 teaspoons sugar or 2 -3 teaspoons honey
4 -5 ice cubes
5 -8 ounces 2% low-fat milk (at least 2% milkfat!)

Steps:

  • Cut open the tea bags and place in the bottom of the filter cup for your espresso machine.
  • Place the coffee on top of the tea leaves (straining the espresso over the chai gives it the strongest flavor).
  • Brew the espresso and mix in the sugar while it is still hot.
  • Pour into a 12 ounce glass and quickly stir in 4-5 ice cubes until the side of the glass feels chilled.
  • Fill to the top with milk.

½ cup cold brew coffee concentrate (1:1 ratio for mixing with water)
6 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
6 tablespoons caramel sauce or caramel ice cream topping

SALTED ICED LATTE

Salted Iced Latte image

Adding a pinch of salt to your coffee makes it smoother without having to rely on sugar to mask the flavor. It mellows out a rather punchy cup of coffee, and you can use way less milk than usual. Here's the thing though -- use just a pinch! If you go crazy, it will taste like salty coffee. I dressed up my version here by adding some vanilla bean and shaking the ingredients in a cocktail shaker to get an amazing frothy texture. Enjoy!

Provided by Claire Thomas : Food Network

Categories     beverage

Time 10m

Yield 1 drink

Number Of Ingredients 5

Ice cubes, for shaking and serving
1 ounce brewed espresso
4 ounces whole milk
1/2 vanilla bean (split lengthwise; see Cook's Note), seeds scraped
1 big pinch sea salt

Steps:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker 2/3 full with ice, then add the espresso, milk, vanilla seeds and salt (reserve the scraped pod for another use). Shake until very cold and the latte is frothed, about 15 seconds. Strain over a glass filled with ice. Enjoy!

ICED CARAMEL LATTE

Iced Caramel Latte image

I've made this delicious iced caramel latte several times. I've also made it using the caramel ice cream topping, and also with the caramel sundae syrup, but I have to say... I really didn't care for the caramel sundae syrup. So when making this caramel latte, be sure to use the caramel ice cream topping, like Hershey's. It gave...

Provided by Cindi M Bauer

Categories     Other Drinks

Number Of Ingredients 6

3-1/2 to 4 teaspoons instant coffee granules
2 Tablesp. hot water (which l heated on top the stove)
1/4 cup caramel ice cream topping (l used hershey's)
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
ice cubes

Steps:

  • 1. In a tall beverage glass, add the coffee granules and hot water; until coffee is dissolved.
  • 2. Add the caramel ice cream topping; stir well to combine.
  • 3. Add the milk and water; stir until combined.
  • 4. Add ice to the glass; and serve immediately.
  • 5. Note: Not quite sure how much coffee granules to add when making this latte? I've experimented several times trying to decide what would be the right the amount to add. If adding the 4 teaspoons, I've found the coffee does taste a bit stronger, but it doesn't seem to over power the taste of the caramel topping that's in it, but... after letting the latte sit for a while, and letting the ice cubes melt a bit into the coffee. I found the coffee didn't taste as strong, and I still could taste the caramel topping in it. And when I added less coffee granules, (the 3-1/2 teaspoons) I found I didn't have to let the coffee sit, and let the ice cubes melt just a bit, so the coffee didn't taste as strong. I was able to enjoy the latte immediately. So the amount of instant coffee granules you decide to add, I'll leave that up to you!

Tips:

  • Use good quality coffee beans and grind them fresh just before brewing. You will get a better flavor from fresh coffee grounds. This will ensure you get the best flavor from your iced latte.
  • Choose the right milk for your latte. Whole milk will give you the creamiest and richest latte, but you can also use skim milk or almond milk if you prefer. You can choose based on your taste and dietary preferences.
  • Don't over-sweeten your latte. A little bit of sugar or sweetener will help to balance out the bitterness of the coffee, but too much sugar will overwhelm the other flavors in your latte.
  • Serve your iced latte immediately. Iced lattes are best enjoyed fresh. If you let them sit for too long, the ice will melt and dilute the coffee.

Conclusion:

Iced lattes are a refreshing and delicious way to enjoy coffee. They are perfect for a hot summer day or as a pick-me-up in the afternoon. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can easily make a delicious iced latte at home. So next time you're craving a coffee shop latte, try making one yourself. You might be surprised at how easy it is!
