Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, ripe tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, and flavorful herbs will make a big difference in the taste of your sauce.
  • Don't overcook the sauce: Simmer it for just long enough to allow the flavors to meld, about 30 minutes. Overcooking can make the sauce bitter.
  • Season to taste: Taste the sauce as you go and adjust the seasonings as needed. You may want to add more garlic, oregano, or red pepper flakes, depending on your preferences.
  • Let the sauce cool before using: This will allow the flavors to develop further. You can make the sauce ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze it for up to 3 months.
  • Use the sauce on your favorite pizza: This sauce is perfect for any type of pizza, from classic Margherita to veggie-packed Supreme.
