HOLIDAY PUNCH BOWL ICE RING
A pretty ice ring in your punch bowl adds a festive touch to a holiday gathering. Think about one of the many punch recipes on the site, and how the individual parts of the ice ring will enhance your choice. This ice ring uses lots of red and green, with some bits of gold, thrown in for contrast. This is more of a craft than a dish, so use your imagination! If not using right away, place the frozen ice ring into a plastic bag and store in the freezer until ready to use.

Steps:
- Clear a spot in your freezer that is level and measures at least 14x14-inches.
- Place maraschino cherries in a pleasing design around the bottom of a 10- to 12-inch gelatin mold. Arrange mint leaves around the cherries, right-sides down (facing out and touching the mold).
- Combine maraschino cherry juice in a bowl with 2 cups water; pour 1/2 inch into the mold on top of cherries and mint, reserve remaining liquid. Place mold in the freezer until partially frozen, about 1 hour.
- Remove mold from the freezer and arrange green and gold kiwis on top of cherries. Use ice cubes and grapes to hold kiwi slices in place. Top with remaining ice and grapes. Carefully fill the mold with remaining water-juice mixture, and add more water as necessary to fill to the top edge of the mold. Place in the freezer until frozen solid, about 24 hours.
- To unmold the ice ring, fill a bowl that is larger than the mold with 1 inch of hot water. Place the mold into the hot water until ice ring separates from the mold, about 1 minute. Transfer ice ring into your punch bowl and serve immediately.

GOLDEN FRUIT PUNCH WITH ICE RING
This is a refreshing punch that isn't as sweet as most. My family loves the tart "wake-me-up" flavor. As an added bonus, this punch won't stain carpeting the way a red punch would! -Cindy Steffen, Cedarburg, Wisconsin

HOW TO MAKE AN ICE RING
This is a GREAT way to make an ice ring for you punch, to keep it cold and tasty! By using punch instead of water your punch won't get diluted as it melts. If you want to make ice cubes use ice cube trays or styrofoam egg cartons. The preparation time is time to make each layer, and does not include the time to freeze each layer.

Steps:
- Layer one of the fruits and some of the punch (1" at a time) in a ring mold.
- Freeze each layer before adding the next layer.
- Layer with as many fruits as you want in your mold.
- When the ring mold is frozen solid, and ready to put in the punch bowl, sit mold in hot water for 1 minute. This will help to make it come out of the mold easily.
Tips:
- Use a bundt pan or a large heatproof bowl: These shapes will allow you to easily create a ring of ice that is both sturdy and visually appealing.
- Use purified or distilled water: Tap water may contain impurities that can cloud the ice.
- Freeze the water slowly: This will help to create clear ice. You can do this by placing the bundt pan or bowl in the freezer for several hours, or overnight.
- Add fruit, herbs, or flowers to the water: This will add a beautiful touch to your ice ring and make it even more festive.
- Be creative: You can use any type of liquid to make an ice ring, such as juice, soda, or even cocktails. Just be sure to adjust the freezing time accordingly.
Conclusion:
An ice ring is a beautiful and refreshing addition to any party or gathering. It's a great way to keep your drinks cold and add a touch of elegance to your table. With a little planning and effort, you can easily make your own ice ring at home. So next time you're planning a party, be sure to give this recipe a try.
