Sampled this in the grocery store once and really liked it. Posting in response to a request for Christmas Party recipes.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (250 g) package light cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cups grated swiss cheese
1/3 cup Miracle Whip light
1/3 cup sliced almonds, toasted
2 tablespoons chopped green onions

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine all ingredients;mix well.
  • Spoon mixture into a deep 2 cup oven proof casserole dish.
  • Bake 15 minutes, stirring after 8 minutes.
  • Garnish with toasted sliced alomnds if desired.
  • Serve warm with vegetables, crackers, breadsticks.

6 oz swiss cheese, shredded
8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
1/3 c mayonnaise
3 Tbsp green onion, chopped
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp black pepper
1/3 c almonds, sliced & toasted, plus additional for topping

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 F
  • 2. Mix all ingredients well, EXCEPT almonds. Once well mixed, gently stir in almonds.
  • 3. Spread mixture into a 9" glass pie plate.
  • 4. Bake for 15 minutes, stirring half way through. Garnish with additional sliced, toasted almonds, if desired. Serve with assorted crackers and vegetable sticks (carrots / celery)

Tips:

  • For a smoother spread, blanch the almonds before using. To do this, bring a pot of water to a boil and add the almonds. Boil for 1-2 minutes, then drain and rinse with cold water. The skins should now easily slip off.
  • If you don't have almond flour, you can make your own by grinding almonds in a food processor until they are finely ground.
  • Be sure to use unsalted butter for this recipe, as salted butter will make the spread too salty.
