**Salsa** is a versatile condiment that can be used to add flavor and zest to a variety of dishes. This hot and sweet no-tomato salsa is a unique and flavorful twist on the classic salsa recipe. It's made with a combination of roasted red bell peppers, poblano peppers, onions, garlic, cilantro, and spices, giving it a smoky, spicy, and slightly sweet flavor. This salsa is perfect for those who love spicy food but don't want the acidity of tomatoes. It's also a great option for those who are allergic to tomatoes or simply don't like the taste of them. This recipe is easy to follow and can be made in just a few minutes. It's also a great way to use up leftover peppers and onions.
The article also includes recipes for two other variations of this salsa: a mild version and a spicy version. Steps:
- 1. Chop green onion and all peppers. (De-vein and de-seed peppers before chopping. I leave in only the Serrano's veins and seeds for a MEDIUM heat. For HOT heat, leave the jalapenos' veins and seeds in also.) Add to bowl.
- 2. Next, chop and add cilantro, red onion and garlic to mixture. Stir.
- 3. Drizzle very lightly with oil, (about 2 teaspoons.) Then add red wine vinegar. Salt and pepper to taste. (I add about a teaspoon of each.) Stir, making sure to coat everything with oil and vinegar.
- 4. Serve with chips or as a topping for tacos, nachos, burgers... endless choices. (Add to a large container of sour cream to make a unique, spicy dip.)
SWEET AND MILD COOKED TOMATO SALSA
When fresh tomatoes from my garden start ripening faster than I can eat them fresh, I make this salsa. I modified the recipe to match my taste for sweet salsa with just a bit of zip. I freeze peeled tomatoes so that I can have the garden-fresh taste in winter, too.

Tips:
- Use ripe and flavorful fruits: The riper the fruit, the sweeter and more flavorful the salsa will be. Look for fruits that are brightly colored and free of blemishes.
- Choose fruits that are in season: Seasonal fruits are typically more flavorful and less expensive. This will also help you get the best possible flavor and quality.
- Experiment with different fruits: There are many different types of fruits that can be used to make no-tomato salsa. Some popular choices include mango, pineapple, watermelon, and peaches. Feel free to mix and match different fruits to create your own unique salsa recipe.
- Add some heat: If you like your salsa with a little bit of a kick, you can add some chopped jalapeños or serrano peppers. You can also use chili powder or cayenne pepper to taste. Just be careful not to overdo it, or you'll end up with a salsa that's too spicy to enjoy.
- Adjust the sweetness: The amount of sugar or honey you add to your salsa will depend on the sweetness of the fruits you're using. If your fruits are already very sweet, you may not need to add any additional sweetener. If you find that your salsa is too tart, you can add a little bit of sugar or honey to taste.
Conclusion:
No-tomato salsa is a refreshing and flavorful alternative to traditional tomato salsa. It's perfect for summer gatherings, potlucks, or just as a healthy snack. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can easily make your own delicious no-tomato salsa at home. So next time you're looking for a new salsa recipe, give one of these a try.
