SIMPLE HOT PASTRAMI AND SWISS SANDWICHES

Simple Hot Pastrami and Swiss Sandwiches image

My wife's favorite sandwich. I'm a pastrami and rye guy, but she loves Italian bread. So this is for Charlotte and anyone who loves simple but flavorful sandwiches. I'm learning that the expensive deli pastrami I use is low in calories (similar to turkey pastrami) and very tasty, but it's not real pastrami. Unless I make it myself, I can't get real pastrami here. Real pastrami is almost 3 times the calories, but much more flavor as it's smoked corned beef. What I use here is Boar's Head pastrami from cap-off top round beef.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality pastrami: Look for pastrami that is well-marbled and has a deep red color. Avoid pastrami that is dry or has a lot of gristle.
  • Slice the pastrami thinly: This will help the pastrami cook evenly and will make it more tender.
  • Use a good quality bread: A sturdy bread, such as rye bread or sourdough bread, will hold up well to the pastrami and other sandwich ingredients.
  • Add your favorite toppings: Some classic pastrami sandwich toppings include sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing. However, feel free to get creative and add your own favorite toppings.
  • Cook the sandwich in a panini press: This will help to melt the cheese and toast the bread. If you don't have a panini press, you can also cook the sandwich in a skillet over medium heat.

Conclusion:

The hot pastrami sandwich is a classic deli sandwich that is easy to make at home. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious and satisfying sandwich that will surely become a favorite. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give the hot pastrami sandwich a try.
