HOT MUSHROOM AND BACON DIP

I picked this recipe up at a "Tupperware" party many many years ago. This is my "guilt-free" dip because I figured that having crispy crunchy raw vegetables with it cancels out the high caloried bacon, cream cheese and sour cream. ;-)

WARM MUSHROOM & BACON DIP

Warm Mushroom & Bacon Dip image

Here's a quick but delicious dip for the holidays. I used Lipton Recipe Secrets Onion Soup Mix instead of Golden Onion Soup Mix because it's what was on hand. Personally, I doubled all the ingredients because I thought the soup mix was way too salty. I posted the recipe as written, but feel free to vary it to your tastes. I also added a little worcestershire pepper. Recipe courtesy of Best Recipes of the Great Food Companies.

Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all of your ingredients and equipment ready to go. This will help you stay organized and avoid scrambling around while you're cooking.
  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the quality of your ingredients, the better your dip will taste. Use fresh mushrooms, bacon, and cheese, and avoid using pre-packaged or processed ingredients whenever possible.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When cooking the mushrooms and bacon, be sure to not overcrowd the pan. This will prevent them from cooking evenly and will make them more likely to stick to the pan.
  • Cook the mushrooms until they are tender: The mushrooms should be cooked until they are tender but still have a little bit of bite to them. Overcooked mushrooms will be mushy and flavorless.
  • Use a good quality cheese: The cheese is one of the key ingredients in this dip, so be sure to use a good quality cheese that melts well. A sharp cheddar or Gruyère cheese are both good choices.
  • Serve the dip immediately: This dip is best served immediately after it is made. The longer it sits, the more the flavors will meld together and the dip will become less creamy.

Conclusion:

This hot mushroom and bacon dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It is creamy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. Whether you are hosting a party or just want a tasty snack, this dip is sure to be a hit.
