Steps:
- In a saucepan, mix cider, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon with brown sugar.
- Bring to a boil and cook 5 minutes.
- Remove spices and serve hot, or allow mulled cider to chill and serve cold.
Tips:
- Choose the right cider. For the best flavor, use a fresh, flavorful cider. Avoid using cider that has been sitting around for a while or that has been pasteurized, as these will not produce as good of a flavor.
- Add spices and citrus to taste. The spices and citrus fruits that you add to your mulled cider will determine its flavor. For a classic mulled cider, use cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and orange slices. You can also add other spices, such as cardamom, ginger, or allspice, to taste. If you want a sweeter cider, add some honey or maple syrup.
- Let the cider simmer for a while. The longer you simmer the cider, the more the flavors will develop. Simmer the cider for at least 30 minutes, or up to an hour for a stronger flavor.
- Serve the cider warm. Mulled cider is best served warm. You can serve it in mugs or glasses, and you can garnish it with a cinnamon stick or an orange slice.
Conclusion:
Mulled cider is a delicious and festive drink that is perfect for enjoying on a cold winter day. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. So next time you are looking for a warm and comforting drink, give mulled cider a try.
