CONEY ISLAND HOT DOGS
The story of how the Coney Island hog dog got to the Midwest is pretty straightforward, but no one really knows exactly how the wiener first came to be topped with what is basically a hot meat relish. I have no idea how authentic this is, and have never been to Detroit, or even Flint. I have had Nathan's® version, which I enjoyed, but the word on the street is that it's not nearly as good as the relatives it spawned.

Tips:
- Use a variety of hot dogs to create a more flavorful dish. Try using a combination of beef, pork, and turkey hot dogs.
- To make the coney sauce ahead of time, let it cool completely and then store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. When you're ready to use it, reheat it over low heat until warmed through.
- If you don't have any yellow mustard, you can use Dijon mustard or brown mustard instead. Just be sure to adjust the amount of mustard you use to taste.
- For a vegetarian version of this dish, use veggie dogs or tofu hot dogs instead of meat hot dogs.
- Serve the hot dogs with your favorite toppings, such as chopped onions, relish, sauerkraut, or chili.

These hot dogs with coney sauce are a classic American dish that is perfect for any occasion. They're easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
