HOT DOG CORNBREAD CASSEROLE RECIPE - (4.7/5)

Hot Dog Cornbread Casserole Recipe - (4.7/5) image

Provided by Susan52

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 (8-1/2-ounce) packages corn muffin mix
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
4 to 5 hot dogs, cut in 1/2-inch slices (see note)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Coat an 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine corn muffin mix, eggs, milk, and cayenne pepper with a spoon; mix well. Stir in hot dogs, then pour into prepared baking dish. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out dry. Let cool 5 to 10 minutes, then slice. Notes Feel free to use hot dogs right out of the package or grill them first for that BBQ flavor. And if you want to give this a bit of that southwestern zip, top with chili and some shredded Cheddar cheese before serving.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. The better the ingredients, the better the casserole will be. Look for fresh, flavorful hot dogs, cornbread mix, and vegetables.
  • Don't overcook the hot dogs. Overcooked hot dogs will be tough and chewy. Cook them just until they are heated through.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the casserole tough. Stir just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the casserole in a preheated oven. This will help to ensure that the casserole cooks evenly.
  • Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. This will help to prevent the casserole from falling apart.

Conclusion:

Hot dog cornbread casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is also a great way to use up leftover hot dogs and cornbread. With its simple ingredients and delicious flavor, this casserole is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
