  • Score the hot dogs: Scoring the hot dogs will help them cook more evenly and allow the flavors of the rub to penetrate deeper.
  • Use a flavorful rub: The rub is what will give your hot dog burnt ends their signature flavor. Experiment with different rubs to find one that you like. Some popular rub ingredients include brown sugar, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  • Cook the hot dogs over indirect heat: Indirect heat will help to prevent the hot dogs from burning while still allowing them to cook through.
  • Baste the hot dogs with sauce: Basting the hot dogs with sauce will help to keep them moist and flavorful. You can use your favorite barbecue sauce or make your own.
  • Cook the hot dogs until they are tender and slightly charred: The hot dogs are done cooking when they are tender and slightly charred. This will take about 1-2 hours, depending on the thickness of the hot dogs.
