Perfect for a holiday party, or any party actually!

Provided by Lucca Rossi

Categories     Cheese Appetizers

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 oz swiss cheese, shredded
8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
1/3 c mayonnaise
3 Tbsp green onion, chopped
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp black pepper
1/3 c almonds, sliced & toasted, plus additional for topping

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 F
  • 2. Mix all ingredients well, EXCEPT almonds. Once well mixed, gently stir in almonds.
  • 3. Spread mixture into a 9" glass pie plate.
  • 4. Bake for 15 minutes, stirring half way through. Garnish with additional sliced, toasted almonds, if desired. Serve with assorted crackers and vegetable sticks (carrots / celery)

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate: The quality of the chocolate you use will greatly affect the taste of your spread. Look for chocolate that is at least 70% cocoa solids and has a smooth, rich flavor.
  • Toast the almonds: Toasting the almonds will bring out their flavor and make them more fragrant. You can toast them in a pan over medium heat or in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes.
  • Use a food processor or blender: A food processor or blender will make it easy to grind the almonds and chocolate together until they are smooth and creamy. If you don't have a food processor or blender, you can also use a mortar and pestle.
  • Add honey or maple syrup to taste: If you find that your spread is too bitter, you can add a little honey or maple syrup to sweeten it. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.
  • Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator: This spread is best served immediately, but it can also be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

This hot creamy Swiss almond spread is a delicious and versatile treat that can be enjoyed in many different ways. It's perfect for spreading on toast or crackers, or for using as a dip for fruit or pretzels. You can also use it as a filling for crepes or waffles, or as a topping for ice cream or yogurt. No matter how you choose to enjoy it, this spread is sure to be a hit.
