HOT CRAB SALAD

Categories     main-dish

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 cup crushed butter crackers
2 cups Alaskan king crabmeat, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 scallions, finely sliced
1 stalk celery, finely diced
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Hot sauce, to taste
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine all the ingredients, except the crackers, and place in 4 individual ramekins or 1 large gratin dish. Top evenly with crushed butter crackers. Bake in oven for 20 - 25 minutes, until heated through.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Crab: For the best flavor and texture, use fresh or frozen lump crab meat. Avoid imitation crab meat, as it will not have the same taste or quality.
  • Prepare the Crab Properly: If using frozen crab meat, thaw it in the refrigerator overnight or under cold running water for about 30 minutes. Once thawed, gently flake the crab meat with a fork.
  • Use High-Quality Ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will greatly impact the flavor of your crab salad. Use fresh vegetables, herbs, and spices, and choose a mayonnaise that you enjoy the taste of.
  • Don't Overmix: Overmixing the crab salad can make it tough. Gently fold the ingredients together until they are just combined.
  • Chill Before Serving: For the best flavor, chill the crab salad for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and develop.

Conclusion:

A hot crab salad is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed as an appetizer, main course, or side dish. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own personal preferences. With its combination of fresh crab meat, creamy mayonnaise, and flavorful vegetables, a hot crab salad is sure to be a hit at your next gathering.
