Easy and Delicious. This comes from my Cooking Down East cookbook. I probably use it more than any other cookbook I own.

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb onions
1 lb hamburg
1 can(s) cream of mushroom soup
1 lb american cheese
1 lb shell macaroni
16 oz whole tomatoes
1/4 c panko bread crumbs
2 Tbsp butter

Steps:

  • 1. Cook the macaroni as directed on the package. Drain, rinse, set aside.
  • 2. Slice up the onions, or use one onion if you wish, and lightly brown in about a tablespoon of oil.
  • 3. Add the hamburg to the pan with onions and break up and cook until brown.
  • 4. In a double boiler, put the cream of mshroom soup and the cheese, which has been cubed (I use velveeta sometimes).
  • 5. When the cheese is melted, add the onion and hamburg which has been drained.
  • 6. Add the macaroni and then the tomatoes (I use the ground peeled)with the liquid and mix together.
  • 7. Pour all into a greased casserole dish.
  • 8. Melt the butter and mix with the crumbs. Sprinkle all over the casserole.
  • 9. Bake until bubbly.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher your ingredients, the better your salsa will taste. This is especially true for the tomatoes, which should be ripe and juicy.
  • Choose the right tomatoes: There are many different varieties of tomatoes, each with its own unique flavor. For salsa, you want to use a variety that is both sweet and acidic, such as Roma tomatoes or cherry tomatoes.
  • Roast your tomatoes: Roasting the tomatoes before you make your salsa will help to concentrate their flavor and give them a smoky sweetness. You can roast the tomatoes in the oven or on the stovetop.
  • Use a variety of peppers: Different types of peppers will give your salsa different levels of heat. For a mild salsa, use green bell peppers. For a medium salsa, use red bell peppers or jalapeƱos. For a hot salsa, use habaneros or cayenne peppers.
  • Add some sweetness: To balance out the acidity of the tomatoes and peppers, add some sweetness to your salsa. You can use sugar, honey, or agave nectar.
  • Add some acidity: If your salsa is too sweet, you can add some acidity to balance it out. You can use lime juice, lemon juice, or vinegar.
  • Season your salsa to taste: Once you've added all of your ingredients, taste your salsa and adjust the seasonings as needed. You may want to add more salt, pepper, cumin, or chili powder.

Conclusion:

With these tips, you can make a delicious salsa that will be the perfect addition to your next party or potluck. So what are you waiting for? Get cooking!
