Number Of Ingredients 9

1 box yellow cake mix
3/4 c vegetable oil
1 c sour cream
4 eggs
1 c packed brown sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon
2 c powdered sugar
4 Tbsp evaporated milk
1 Tbsp vanilla

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 335 degrees F. Mix with a spoon: cake mix, oil, eggs & sour cream until lumps are gone.
  • 2. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar & cinnamon.
  • 3. Pour 1/2 cake mix in a 13x9 inch cake pan that's been sprayed lightly with cooking spray.
  • 4. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture evenly over the top.
  • 5. Pour remaining mixture over sugar and spread evenly.
  • 6. With a butter knife, swirl cake mix to resemble honey bun. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
  • 7. Icing: Combine powdered sugar, evaporated milk & vanilla until creamy. Pour over warm cake.

Tips:

  • Use fresh honey: Fresh honey has a more intense flavor and aroma than older honey. It also helps to keep the cake moist.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This will help to incorporate air into the batter, resulting in a lighter, more tender cake.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition: This will help to prevent the batter from curdling.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk: This will help to prevent the batter from becoming too thick or lumpy.
  • Do not overmix the batter: Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake.
  • Bake the cake in a preheated oven: This will help to ensure that the cake bakes evenly.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting: This will help to prevent the frosting from melting.
  • Use a generous amount of frosting: Honeybun cake is known for its sweet, gooey frosting.

Conclusion:

Honeybun cake is a delicious, moist cake that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With its sweet, gooey frosting and light, fluffy texture, honeybun cake is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So, what are you waiting for? Give this recipe a try today!
