Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 19

⅓ cup raw honey
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
½ cup cold water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon salt
1 ¼ teaspoons salt, divided
¾ teaspoon garlic powder, divided
1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 egg
¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup cold water
½ cup cornstarch
2 tablespoons avocado oil
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
peanut oil for frying
½ tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Mix honey, tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, Sriracha sauce, and sesame oil together in a medium bowl.
  • Combine cold water, cornstarch, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a bowl; mix well. Add to honey sauce mixture and mix well. Set aside until needed.
  • Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder over chicken.
  • Whisk egg in a large bowl. Add remaining salt and garlic powder and mix well. Mix in flour. Combine water and cornstarch in a bowl; add to egg mixture and mix well. Add avocado oil and baking powder; mix well.
  • Pour 3 inches of peanut oil into the bottom of a wide, deep pot and heat to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Place 1/2 of the chicken pieces into the batter mixture and turn to coat. Scoop tablespoonfuls of chicken and batter into the hot oil. Do not crowd the chicken. Fry in batches until chicken pieces are golden brown and no longer pink in the centers, about 1 minute per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Check oil temperature between batches.
  • Pour honey sauce mixture into a large skillet. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, 3 to 4 minutes. Add all chicken pieces to the sauce; turn to coat. Sprinkle on sesame seeds.

Yield Serves 4 to 6

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 cup honey
2 to 3 tablespoons pureed canned chipotle chiles in adobo
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
4 tablespoons ancho chile powder
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 tablespoons canola oil
2 teaspoons ground coriander
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons Spanish paprika
3 pounds chicken wings
2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
3 green onions, white and green parts, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Heat your grill to medium-high
  • Whisk together the honey, chipotle puree, 1 tablespoon of the mustard, 1 tablespoon of the ancho powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 2 tablespoons of the oil in a small bowl. Divide the glaze evenly between 2 bowls, one small, the other large.
  • Stir together the remaining 3 tablespoons of ancho powder with the coriander, cumin, and paprika in a small bowl.
  • Rinse the chicken wings under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Cut the tips off the wings and discard (or freeze and use for making chicken stock). Cut each wing into 2 pieces through the joint.
  • Place the chicken wings in a large bowl, add the spice rub and the remaining 2 tablespoons oil, and toss to coat. Season with salt and pepper and place the wings on the grill in an even layer. Grill until golden brown and slightly charred, 4 to 5 minutes. Reduce the heat of the grill to medium, turn the wings over, and close the lid of the grill. Continue grilling until just cooked through, 15 to 20 minutes longer, brushing with the small bowl of glaze every few minutes and turning once during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
  • Transfer the wings to the large bowl, brush with the reserved glaze, and toss to coat. Transfer to a platter and sprinkle with the sesame seeds and green onions.

ROAST HONEY SESAME CHICKEN

Roast Honey Sesame Chicken image

This recipes sounds so good and the photo in Recipe+ magazine make look even better. Times are estimated and DO NOT included 20 minutes marinating time. They also suggest that you can replace hoisin sauce with plum sauce. You could also use 2 small twin pack chicken but cooking time will vary. For a quick gravy you could mix powdered gravy with boiling water and minced garlic cloves. If dutch carrots are not available use regular carrots and cut into quarters lenghtwise.

Time 20m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons ginger wine (or dry sherry)
1 tablespoon cornflour (cornstarch)
8 chicken thighs, cut into large pieces
1 tablespoon peanut oil
1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon garlic, crushed
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
1/2 cup chicken stock
1/2 cup green onion, sliced
2 teaspoons honey
1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Steps:

  • In a glass bowl mix together soy sauce, wine and cornflour. Cut up chicken, if not already done, and add to the bowl. Stir together well. Let this marinade a few minutes.
  • Heat up frying pan or wok. Add peanut oil, sesame oil, crushed garlic and grated ginger. Fry breifly.
  • Drain chicken pieces , reserving the liquid, and add them to the pan a few at a time. Do this in batches so that they brown nicely.
  • When all of the chicken has been fried off, add the chicken pices back to the pan with the reserved marinade and chicken stock. Cook until thickened. Stir in honey. Taste to see if it is sweet enough. Add more honey if it needs it.
  • Remove from heat. Stir in green onions. Sprinkle over sesame seeds as a garnish. Serve hot.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality honey: The honey you use will have a big impact on the flavor of the dish, so it's best to use a high-quality honey that has a rich, floral flavor.
  • Don't overcook the chicken: Chicken can easily become dry and tough if it's overcooked, so it's important to cook it just until it's cooked through. A meat thermometer is a great way to ensure that the chicken is cooked to the proper temperature.
  • Make sure the sauce is thick and sticky: The sauce for this dish should be thick and sticky, so it can coat the chicken and rice. If the sauce is too thin, it will just run off the chicken and rice.
  • Serve immediately: This dish is best served immediately after it's made, while the chicken is still hot and crispy. If you let it sit for too long, the chicken will start to get soggy.

Conclusion:

Honey sesame chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that's perfect for a quick weeknight meal. With its sweet, savory, and slightly spicy flavor, this dish is sure to be a hit with the whole family. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dinner recipe, give honey sesame chicken a try!
