Time 25m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/4 cup light olive oil
1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 tablespoon honey
1 1/2 teaspoons basil leaves
1 lb tuna steak (works well with swordfish steaks too)

Steps:

  • Combine first 5 ingredients in shallow dish or self-closing plastic bag. (I prefer to use a shallow dish so that the honey doesn't stick in one place -- easier to mix I think -- ).
  • Add tuna steaks; turn to coat. Refrigerate 20 minutes. Turn occasionally.
  • Grill or broil 8 to 10 minutes per inch of thickness (or until fish flakes easily with a fork.)
  • NOTE: Baste 1 or 2 times with leftover marinade during cooking.
  • Discard leftover marinade.

Tips:

  • For the freshest ahi tuna, look for fish that is bright red in color and has a firm texture.
  • If you can't find ahi tuna, you can substitute another type of firm fish, such as swordfish or marlin.
  • To ensure that the tuna is cooked evenly, use a meat thermometer to check that it has reached an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • If you don't have a meat thermometer, you can cook the tuna until it is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  • The honey-lime glaze can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • To make the glaze, simply whisk together honey, lime juice, olive oil, garlic, and ginger.
  • To serve, spoon the honey-lime glaze over the grilled ahi tuna and garnish with cilantro.

Conclusion:

This honey-lime glazed ahi tuna is a delicious and healthy dish that is perfect for a summer meal. The fish is cooked to perfection and the glaze is sweet, tangy, and flavorful. This dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
