HONEY-LEMON GINGER TEA

I visited a coffee shop in Hartford on a cold winter day and ordered their honey lemon ginger tea. It was tart, sweet, full of flavor, and warmed me from head to toe. The proprietor was nice enough to give me a rough description of her recipe. After a few tries at home, I came up with this close version.

GINGER-ANISE TEA WITH LEMON AND HONEY

Ginger-Anise Tea With Lemon and Honey image

Got this from Middle Eastern Recipe (http://www.ummah.com/family/recipes.html). It's especially nice when you have a sore throat or generally feel cruddy, but is also delicious anytime. The ginger really comes through in a good way. Smells good too. Make sure to pour it through a fine strainer as you want to rid the tea of seeds and depending on your ginger you might get bits of ginger settling in the bottom of the cup, which makes for a very potent last sip!

LAVENDER, LEMON AND HONEY TEA FROM WOLDS WAY LAVENDER FARM

Lavender, Lemon and Honey Tea from Wolds Way Lavender Farm image

A wonderful recipe that I discovered on a recipe card from Wold's Way Lavender Farm in North Yorkshire, England! This magical lavender farm is just down the road from my parent's house and is high on my "must visit" list when I go home to England. I have found that this tea is a miracle worker for headaches, head colds and colds in general........the soothing honey helps sore throats whilst the lemon contains essential vitamin C, and the lavender provides a calming and refreshing element to this herbal tea or tisane. Although this is mainly served hot, I have made this during the summer months as an iced tea, as it's perfect for hot, sultry days.

Time 5m

Yield 1-2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

6 sprigs lavender
water
lemon juice, to taste
lavender honey, to taste
1 tablespoon dried lemon peel

Steps:

  • Combine the lavender heads, lemon juice (about 1/2 a lemon) and the lemon peel in a small teapot (for 2 people) and then add boiling water.
  • Allow to steep for 5 minutes before adding lavender honey to taste. Serve in warmed china cups.
  • To serve cold: Make the tea as directed above. Allow to cool and serve with ice and a slice in a tall glass.

Tips:

  • Use fresh lemon juice: Fresh lemon juice provides the best flavor and aroma for honey lemon tea. If you don't have fresh lemons, you can use bottled lemon juice, but the flavor will be less pronounced.
  • Use raw honey: Raw honey is unprocessed and contains more nutrients than processed honey. It also has a more robust flavor that will shine through in your tea.
  • Steep the tea for at least 5 minutes: This will allow the flavors of the tea, honey, and lemon to meld together. If you steep the tea for too short a time, it will be weak and flavorless.
  • Serve the tea hot or cold: Honey lemon tea can be enjoyed hot or cold. If you're serving it hot, heat the water to just below boiling (about 200 degrees Fahrenheit). If you're serving it cold, brew the tea as usual and then let it cool completely before refrigerating it.
  • Add other ingredients to taste: Honey lemon tea is a versatile beverage that can be customized to your liking. Try adding a slice of ginger, a cinnamon stick, or a few cloves to the tea while it's steeping. You can also add a dollop of yogurt or milk for a creamier texture.

Conclusion:

Honey lemon tea is a delicious and refreshing beverage that can be enjoyed hot or cold. It's a great way to boost your immune system, soothe a sore throat, or simply relax and unwind. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a cup of honey lemon tea that's sure to please everyone.
