HONEY BOURBON HORSERADISH GLAZED HAM

Honey Bourbon Horseradish Glazed Ham image

I posted this recipe for the glaze. It will work on any size ham, but cooking times will vary depending on the size and how you like to cook your ham. It is a thick, rich glaze. I only use the water packaged with the ham when I make it.

BOURBON HONEY GLAZED HAM

Bourbon Honey Glazed Ham image

We love cooking with bourbon when it's combined with something sweet and savory. The glaze becomes thick as it cooks. As it cooled a bit, it becomes even thicker. Bourbon adds a little something to the glaze but does not have a harsh alcohol taste. The flavors of the orange marmalade, bourbon, and honey are perfect in this...

Categories     Pork

Number Of Ingredients 6

2/3 c bourbon or whiskey
1 c clover honey
1/3 c molasses
1/2 c 100 % fruit orange marmalade
1 5 lb whole bone in ham, fully cooked
1/8 c whole cloves

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. In a medium saucepan, heat bourbon, honey, molasses, and marmalade over low heat for 15 minutes or until reduced by half; stirring occasionally. Set aside.
  • 3. With a sharp knife, cut diamond pattern on the fatty part of the ham. Stud whole cloves in each diamond, at points where lines cross.
  • 4. Spread half of the glaze over the ham.
  • 5. Roast for 30 minutes, uncovered. Baste occasionally with remaining glaze and continue to roast for another 15 minutes.
  • 6. Let ham stand for 20 minutes before slicing.

Tips:

  • Preheat your oven to the correct temperature before cooking the ham. This will help ensure that the ham cooks evenly.
  • Use a sharp knife to score the ham. This will help the glaze penetrate the ham and give it more flavor.
  • Baste the ham with the glaze frequently while it is cooking. This will help keep the ham moist and flavorful.
  • Let the ham rest for at least 15 minutes before carving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the ham and make it more tender.
  • Serve the ham with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, green beans, and cranberry sauce.

Conclusion:

Honey bourbon glazed ham is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. With its sweet and savory glaze, this ham is sure to be a hit with everyone at your table. So next time you are looking for a special dish to serve, give honey bourbon glazed ham a try.
