FACE PAINT

Face Paint image

Of all the face paint recipes that I've seen and the one that I tried before this, I like this one the BEST (differnt from the other on Recipezaar). Skeptical at first, but the paint actually dries (may take about 10 minutes or so) and isn't sticky like I would think. My DD has had it on all day and it hasn't rubbed off on any of our furniture, carpet, etc. She loves it! Also, this face paint is thin (not like the other crisco/cold cream recipes) and comes off easily with soap and water.

Time 10m

Yield 1 batch, 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon flour
3/4 cup Karo light corn syrup
1/4 cup water
food coloring, liquid or gel

Steps:

  • Mix cornstarch and flour together in a bowl.
  • Gradually stir in Karo syrup and water until smooth.
  • Divide mixture into individual containers as needed (Mix and store in baby food jars or discarded film canisters - or Glad plastic ware cups/lids --- see pictures).
  • Color each one with the food coloring of your choice until you reach your desired color (I like mine darker -- they seem to show up on the skin much better). Leave one batch untinted.
  • NOTE: I felt the mixture was thin so I added another tsp or so of cornstarch. The recipe didn't say to do this, but the face paint still worked.
  • NOTE: If using the gel food coloring (I find the colors are more vibrant), you will want to mix with your spoon first and then put the lid on the container and shake, shake, shake to mix it all up. Otherwise, your paint will be speckled with "pieces" of the gel food coloring.

Tips:

  • Ensure that all ingredients, especially the cornstarch, are finely ground to achieve a smooth consistency and prevent clumping.
  • Adjust the water-to-flour ratio to achieve the desired consistency. For a thicker face paint, use less water, and for a thinner consistency, add more water.
  • Experiment with different ratios of cornstarch, flour, and water to find the perfect consistency for your needs.
  • Add essential oils or food coloring to create different colors of face paint.
  • For a more opaque face paint, add a small amount of titanium dioxide powder.
  • If the face paint is too thick, add a small amount of water until it reaches the desired consistency.
  • Store the face paint in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
  • To remove the face paint, use warm water and soap.

Conclusion:

Homemade white face paint is a safe and easy way to create a variety of looks for Halloween, costume parties, or other special occasions. It is also a great activity for kids and adults alike. With a few simple ingredients and a little creativity, you can create a wide range of face painting designs. So gather your supplies and let your imagination run wild!
