HOMEMADE GARLIC-PARMESAN TATER TOTS. SERIOUSLY RECIPE - (4.5/5)

Homemade Garlic-Parmesan Tater Tots. Seriously Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by raklisa2020

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 large red potatoes (1 1/2 pounds)
2 cloves of roasted garlic
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1 dash freshly ground sea salt
Olive oil for greasing pan

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400° F. Scrub the potatoes clean and roast until they are fork tender. Cool them rapidly by plunging them in ice water. Change the water, and repeat, until the potatoes are cool. Shred the potatoes on the large holes of a box grater. You can peel them first; I didn't. Place the other ingredients into the bowl with the grated potatoes and use a fork to fully combine everything. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and rub it with a layer of olive oil. Preheat oven to 425° F. Using about a teaspoon of the potato mixture, form it into a cylinder about 1 inch long. Place on baking sheet and repeat until all the tots are made. Bake about 35 to 40 minutes, turning once about 20 minutes into the cooking time. Serve hot with ketchup.

Tips:

  • For the crispiest tater tots, use a combination of russet and Yukon Gold potatoes. Russets are high in starch, which helps the tots hold their shape, while Yukon Golds are creamier and add a richer flavor.
  • Be sure to grate the potatoes finely. This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Season the potato mixture generously with salt and pepper. You can also add other spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
  • Form the potato mixture into small, bite-sized tots. You can use a spoon or a cookie scoop to make this easier.
  • Freeze the tater tots before cooking them. This will help them hold their shape and prevent them from sticking to the pan.
  • Cook the tater tots in hot oil until they are golden brown and crispy. You can fry them, bake them, or air fry them.

Conclusion:

Homemade tater tots are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or side dish. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or game day gatherings. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make your own tater tots that are just as good as (or even better than) the ones you get from the store. So next time you're craving a crispy, cheesy, potato snack, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
