I won best of show at the county fair with this favorite yeast bread. I like to shape the dough into an attractive braid. It smells wonderful coming out of the oven, and everyone likes the texture and flavor. -Marie Hattrup Sparks, Nevada

Tips:
- Use fresh, full-fat yogurt as the base for your sour cream. This will give you the best flavor and texture.
- Choose the right type of milk for your yogurt. Whole milk, 2%, and skim milk will all work, but whole milk will give you the richest, creamiest sour cream.
- Let your yogurt sit at room temperature for several hours before adding the starter culture. This will help to activate the bacteria and ensure that your sour cream ferments properly.
- Use a digital thermometer to make sure that the milk is at the correct temperature before adding the starter culture. The ideal temperature is between 110°F and 115°F.
- Keep your sour cream covered and at room temperature for 12-24 hours, or until it reaches the desired thickness. The longer you let it ferment, the thicker it will become.
- Once your sour cream is fermented, store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Conclusion:
Making your own sour cream at home is a simple and rewarding process. With just a few ingredients and a little patience, you can create a delicious, creamy sour cream that is perfect for use in a variety of recipes. Whether you're using it as a topping for tacos, a dollop on your baked potato, or a tangy addition to your favorite soup, homemade sour cream is sure to please.
