HOMEMADE ROSEMARY TINCTURE!

Homemade Rosemary Tincture! image

A "tincture" is something that is made by combining flowers or herbs with alcohol. The alcohol basically pulls the essence of the herb or flower into its solution and "suspends" it there to use at a later time. Tinctures can sometimes be purchased readymade from health food stores. I hope you enjoy this one. It's from the book 'The Good Earth Bath, Beauty & Health Book' by Casey Kellar. The approx. shelf life of this is 1 year. The number of servings is a guess.

HOMEMADE HERB SALT

Homemade Herb Salt image

Yes, the color in this salt will fade within a few weeks, but the herby flavor and aroma will remain intact for much longer. I described this as a finishing salt, meaning it's used to season cooked food at the table; however, it can also be used in place of regular salt in any recipe preparation.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, fragrant rosemary: The quality of your rosemary will directly impact the flavor of your tincture. Look for rosemary with deep green, vibrant leaves and a strong, aromatic scent.
  • Use a high-proof alcohol: A high-proof alcohol, such as vodka or grain alcohol, is essential for extracting the medicinal properties of rosemary. Make sure to use an alcohol that is at least 80 proof (40% ABV).
  • Infuse the rosemary for at least 2 weeks: The longer you infuse the rosemary, the more flavor and medicinal properties will be extracted into the alcohol. Aim to infuse the rosemary for at least 2 weeks, but you can infuse it for up to 6 weeks.
  • Store the tincture in a cool, dark place: Once the tincture is ready, store it in a cool, dark place, such as a cupboard or pantry. This will help to preserve the flavor and medicinal properties of the tincture.

Conclusion:

Rosemary tincture is a versatile herbal remedy with a wide range of potential health benefits. It can be used to relieve pain, inflammation, stress, and anxiety. It can also be used to improve digestion, boost the immune system, and promote hair growth. If you are looking for a natural way to improve your health, rosemary tincture is a great option.
