Steps:
- 1. In a large blender container place vinegar, sugar, onion, salt, and mustard. Cover and process until smooth. Gradually add oil through the hole in the top of blender so as not to have dressing flying all over kitchen. :) When all these ingredients are blended smooth, stop blender. Pour into bottle or bowl and stir in poppy seeds by hand. Refrigerate until using on tossed salad or spinach salad.
Tips:
- Using a high-quality poppy seed oil will give your dressing the best flavor. Look for an oil that is dark in color and has a nutty, roasted aroma.
- If you don't have poppy seed oil, you can substitute another type of oil, such as olive oil or vegetable oil. However, the flavor of your dressing will not be as rich.
- To make a vegan version of this dressing, use a plant-based milk instead of regular milk.
- If you like a thicker dressing, add more poppy seeds. You can also add other ingredients to your dressing, such as chopped nuts, crumbled bacon, or grated cheese.
- Store your dressing in a jar or container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Conclusion:
Poppy seed dressing is a delicious and versatile salad dressing that can be used on a variety of salads. It is also a good dipping sauce for vegetables or fruit. This homemade poppy seed dressing is easy to make and only requires a few simple ingredients. So next time you are looking for a new salad dressing to try, give this one a try.
