Tips:

  • Choose the right ground meat: A combination of ground beef and ground pork is a classic choice for meatloaf, but you can also use ground turkey, chicken, or lamb. If you're using a leaner meat, like ground turkey or chicken, add some extra fat, such as butter or bacon grease, to keep the meatloaf moist.
  • Season the meatloaf well: Don't be afraid to use plenty of seasonings in your meatloaf. Common seasonings include salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried herbs, such as basil, oregano, and thyme. You can also add a splash of Worcestershire sauce or barbecue sauce for extra flavor.
  • Don't overmix the meatloaf: Overmixing the meatloaf will make it tough. Just mix the ingredients until they are combined.
  • Shape the meatloaf into a loaf: Use your hands to shape the meatloaf mixture into a loaf shape. You can also use a loaf pan if you prefer.
  • Bake the meatloaf at a low temperature: Meatloaf should be baked at a low temperature (350 degrees Fahrenheit) for about 1 hour per pound. This will help keep the meatloaf moist and prevent it from becoming dry.
  • Let the meatloaf rest before slicing: Once the meatloaf is done baking, let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the meatloaf.

Conclusion:

Meatloaf is a classic comfort food that is easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a few simple tips, you can make a delicious and moist meatloaf that your family and friends will love.
