Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 cups water
1 1/2 teaspoons butter flavoring
2 teaspoons of imitation vanilla butter & nut flavoring made by mccormick
1 1/2 teaspoons maple flavoring

Steps:

  • 1. Place all but maple flavoring in a medium saucepan, start to cook over medium heat but, turn temperature down just when it reaches a boil.
  • 2. Simmer just 7 minutes and remove from heat.
  • 3. Cool slightly and add maple flavoring.
  • 4. Once cool enough, place in an old syrup bottle, Mrs. Butterworths size works really well. Glass is better.

Tips:

  • Use fresh maple sap: Fresh maple sap is essential for making the best maple syrup. Sap that has been sitting for a while will start to ferment, which will affect the flavor of the syrup.
  • Boil the sap slowly: Boiling the sap slowly will allow the flavors to develop and concentrate. Don't try to rush the process, or you'll end up with a syrup that is thin and watery.
  • Use a candy thermometer: A candy thermometer is essential for making sure that the syrup reaches the right temperature. If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can use the cold plate test to check the consistency of the syrup.
  • Be patient: Making maple syrup takes time. It can take several hours to boil down the sap to the right consistency. But the wait is worth it! Fresh, homemade maple syrup is a delicious and unique treat.

Conclusion:

Making maple syrup at home is a fun and rewarding experience. With a little time and effort, you can create a delicious and unique syrup that you can enjoy all year long. So, if you have access to fresh maple sap, I encourage you to give it a try! You won't be disappointed.
