FRESH, HOMEMADE APPLE JUICE

Fresh, Homemade Apple Juice image

My mother had a creative way of using the apple cores and peels leftover from making apple pie: to make homemade apple juice. Store-bought apple juice is tasty, but it has a strong, distinct flavor with almost a hint of bitterness. To those with sensitive palates, it can be a little strong at times. Homemade juice, however, tastes surprisingly different as it is lighter and pleasantly sweet without the kick. Besides using a juicer, this is a super-easy way of making apple juice.

Homemade Sparkling Grape Juice (or other flavors) Recipe - (4.3/5) image

Provided by EricS52

Number Of Ingredients 3

Ingredients:
2 liters club soda (carbonated water), chilled
12 ounces frozen grape juice concentrate (or other fruit juice concentrate)

Steps:

  • Instructions: 1. Pour frozen juice concentrate into a 2-quart pitcher. Refill the can from the concentrate 4 times with club soda (48 ounces, or 6 cups of club soda) and pour into the pitcher. Stir. Serve cold and enjoy your delicious sparkling juice! Homemade Sparkling Grape Juice Additional Notes: For a stronger juice with less carbonation, add only 3 cans (36 ounces) of club soda instead of 4 (48 ounces). We like to use grape juice or apple juice, to make sparkling grape juice or sparkling cider. Any frozen juice concentrate will work, although orange juice is probably our least favorite of the ones we've tried so far. :) Homemade Sparkling Grape Juice See my blog post about this sparkling juice for a price breakdown and comparison to store-bought sparkling juice! Preparation Time: 5 minutes Tammy's Review: This homemade sparkling juice tastes JUST like the bottles of sparkling juice that are sold for at least $2-3 for 750ml (about 25 ounces)! I love that we can make our own for a fraction of the price... plus get 100% juice (and carbonation of course)! :)

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 2

12 oz frozen apple juice concentrate
36 oz club soda (fill juice can 3 times)

Steps:

  • 1. Empty undiluted frozen apple juice into decorative pitcher or 2-quart serving carafe. Fill juice container with club soda (3 times) and pour into the pitcher; stir well.
  • 2. Chill, and serve in fluted champagne glasses for an elegant touch.

Tips:

  • Select Fresh Fruits and Vegetables: Use the freshest produce available for the best flavor and nutritional value.
  • Wash Produce Thoroughly: Before juicing, wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly to remove any dirt, pesticides, or bacteria.
  • Choose a Juicer: Select a juicer that suits your needs and budget. Centrifugal juicers are affordable and efficient, while masticating juicers are more expensive but produce higher-quality juice.
  • Prepare Produce: Cut fruits and vegetables into manageable pieces to fit your juicer's feed tube. Remove pits, seeds, and stems.
  • Alternate Hard and Soft Ingredients: For a balanced juice, alternate hard and soft ingredients in the juicer. Hard ingredients help break down soft ingredients, resulting in a smoother juice.
  • Juice Leafy Greens: Leafy greens like kale, spinach, and romaine lettuce are packed with nutrients. Add a handful to your juice for a boost of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
  • Add Some Zing: Incorporate citrus fruits, ginger, or cayenne pepper into your juice for a refreshing and flavorful kick.
  • Store Freshly Squeezed Juice Properly: Freshly squeezed juice is best consumed immediately. However, if you need to store it, keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Homemade juice is a delicious and nutritious way to boost your overall health and well-being. With a variety of recipes to choose from, you can create customized juices that cater to your taste preferences and dietary needs. Experiment with different combinations of fruits, vegetables, and herbs to discover your favorite blends. Remember to use fresh ingredients, clean your juicer regularly, and store juice properly to maintain its quality and nutritional value. Enjoy the goodness of homemade juice as part of a balanced diet and lifestyle!
