- Bake first batch in the preheated oven until crispy and golden brown on the edges and still pale in the centers, about 10 minutes.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease muffin tin with butter.
- Working with one wonton wrapper at a time, place one folded fortune in the center of the wrapper. Dip your fingers into a small bowl of cool water and lightly wet all four edges of the wrapper. Fold in half, gently pressing to seal the edges.
- Fold ends of wrapper toward each other to create the shape of a traditional fortune cookie.
- Working quickly with a pastry brush, generously brush each wonton wrapper with butter on all sides. Sprinkle each with 1/2 tsp. sugar, then place in a prepared muffin cup. Repeat with remaining wrappers.
- Bake cookies, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crisp, 10-12 minutes. Let cookies cool slightly in tin, then carefully transfer to a wire rack and let cool completely.
Tips:
- Use high-quality ingredients. The better the ingredients, the better the fortune cookies will taste. Look for fresh eggs, pure vanilla extract, and high-quality chocolate chips.
- Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the cookies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
- Chill the dough before baking. Chilling the dough will make it easier to work with and will help the cookies hold their shape.
- Bake the cookies at a high temperature for a short time. This will help the cookies develop a crispy texture.
- Fold the cookies immediately after baking. The cookies will be soft and pliable right out of the oven, so you'll need to fold them quickly before they cool and harden.
- Store the cookies in an airtight container. The cookies will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container at room temperature.
Conclusion:
Homemade fortune cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. With a little bit of patience, you can create your own custom fortune cookies with your favorite fillings and messages. So next time you're in the mood for a sweet treat, try making your own homemade fortune cookies.
