HOMEMADE FINGER PAINT

With this quick and easy finger paint your child can finger paint for just pennies. It's perfect for using on paper or in the bathtub. The dish soap makes this finger paint wash out of anything my girls have painted with it. Keeps for at least a week in airtight containers. A fun painting option is to cover a tray or cookie sheet with waxed paper and have your child spoon paint over it in different colors. Cover with another sheet of waxed paper. Your child can press down on the colors and watch them blend and move.

EASY FINGER PAINT

Easy Finger Paint image

All the recipes I found here were calling for either cornstarch(I was out) or glycerin (didn't have any). I found this on http://www.creativekidsathome.com/activities/activity_42.html. DD is working on it right now. With 1/3 cup of water and 1/3 cup of flour we got enough to make three colors, enough for one time painting. Update:it works! The painting I made was nice, no cracks. The one DD did, crinkled up the paper. She poured the paint on the paper and worked from there. I 'm happy with the result.

Time 2m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 cups white flour
2 cups cold water
food coloring

Steps:

  • Put water into a large bowl.
  • Slowly add the flour, while the children are stirring.
  • Once it's all mixed together, divide into smaller bowls and add food coloring.

Tips:

  • Use food coloring for vibrant colors: For a wider range of colors, use food coloring instead of acrylic paint or tempera paint.
  • Cornstarch is the key to smooth consistency: Cornstarch gives the finger paint a smooth and creamy consistency. Be sure to use the right amount to achieve the desired consistency.
  • Add water gradually: When mixing the paint, add water gradually and stir continuously to avoid lumps. The paint should be thick enough to coat your finger but not too thick that it's difficult to spread.
  • Let the paint dry completely before storing: Allow the paint to dry completely before storing it in airtight containers. This will prevent the paint from spoiling or growing mold.
  • Use a variety of tools for painting: In addition to fingers, use brushes, sponges, or even vegetables like celery or carrots for painting. This will add variety and creativity to your artwork.

Conclusion:

Homemade finger paints are a fun and creative way to encourage artistic expression in children. Using simple ingredients like flour, cornstarch, water, and food coloring, you can create a non-toxic and washable paint that's safe for kids to use. With a variety of tools and techniques, kids can explore their creativity and imagination while making colorful and unique artwork. So gather your ingredients, put on some aprons, and let the creativity flow!
