Number Of Ingredients 14

2 tablespoons bay leaf, crumbled
2 tablespoons celery salt
1 tablespoon dry mustard powder
2 teaspoons finely ground black peppercorns
2 teaspoons ginger powder
2 teaspoons Kashmiri chili powder
1 teaspoon finely ground white pepper
1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon clove powder
1 teaspoon allspice powder
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
½ teaspoon mace powder
½ teaspoon green cardamom powder
¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container. This seasoning blend will keep indefinitely.

Tips:

  • Use fresh spices: Whole spices have a more intense flavor than pre-ground spices, so use them whenever possible. If you only have pre-ground spices, use more than the recipe calls for.
  • Toast your spices: Toasting spices brings out their flavor and makes them more aromatic. You can toast spices in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes, or on a baking sheet in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes.
  • Grind your own spices: Grinding your own spices is the best way to get the freshest, most flavorful spice blends. You can use a spice grinder or a mortar and pestle to grind spices.
  • Store your spices properly: Spices should be stored in a cool, dark place in airtight containers. This will help them retain their flavor and aroma for longer.
  • Experiment with different spice blends: There are endless possibilities when it comes to creating your own spice blends. Experiment with different combinations of spices until you find one that you love.
