Holiday Morning Breakfast Casserole (Crock Pot) image

This is an adaptation from Tom & Candy's recipe. I have made this twice for Thanksgiving breakfast for the school teachers and always get lots of compliments....and requests for the recipe. You can switch out the meat for any type of breakfast meat you might like.

Time 10h15m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

30 ounces frozen hash brown O'Brien potatoes (cubes, with onion and pepper)
1/4 lb bacon, cooked
3/4 lb sausage, cooked
1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
12 eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Spray your crock pot with cooking spray!
  • Place layer of frozen potatoes on the bottom of the slow cooker, followed by a layer of meat, then cheese.
  • Repeat the layering process two or three more times, ending with a layer of cheese.
  • Beat the eggs, milk and pepper together.
  • Pour over the Crock pot mixture, cover and turn on low.
  • Cook for 8-10 hours.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better the casserole will taste. Try to use organic, locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible.
  • Don't overcook the casserole: The casserole is done when the eggs are set and the cheese is melted. Overcooking will make the casserole dry and tough.
  • Serve the casserole immediately: The casserole is best served hot out of the oven. You can also make it ahead of time and reheat it in the oven or microwave.
  • Get creative with your toppings: You can top the casserole with a variety of different ingredients, such as crumbled bacon, diced tomatoes, or green onions. Get creative and experiment with different flavors.

Conclusion:

The holiday morning breakfast casserole is a delicious and easy dish that is perfect for a special occasion. It is also a great way to use up leftover ingredients. With a little planning, you can have a delicious and nutritious breakfast casserole on the table in no time. So next time you are looking for a special breakfast recipe, give this one a try.
