HOLIDAY MEATBALLS

Samples were being given out at the grocery store. The lady had run out of the recipes cards so I wrote down on the back of my grocery list.

Provided by Chris VanDusen

Categories     Meat Appetizers

Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 pkg italian meatballs, frozen cocktail size 28 oz bag
1 can(s) whole berry cranberry sauce, 16 oz
1 c barbecue sauce, i used sweet baby ray's

Steps:

  • 1. Place frozen meatballs in slow cooker sprayed with cooking spray.
  • 2. In a bowl, mix together cranberry sauce and barbecue sauce. Pour over meatballs.
  • 3. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or high for 2-3 hours. Turn to warm setting to serve.

Tips:

  • Use a combination of ground meats: Using a blend of ground meats, such as beef, pork, and lamb, will result in more flavorful meatballs.
  • Season the meat thoroughly: Don't be shy with the seasonings! A good rule of thumb is to use 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper per pound of meat.
  • Add some bread crumbs: Bread crumbs help to bind the meatballs together and keep them moist.
  • Use an egg as a binder: An egg will help to hold the meatballs together and prevent them from falling apart.
  • Don't overmix the meat: Overmixing the meat will make the meatballs tough.
  • Form the meatballs into uniform sizes: This will help them cook evenly.
  • Brown the meatballs before simmering them: Browning the meatballs in a pan before simmering them will help to develop their flavor and prevent them from falling apart.
  • Use a flavorful sauce: The sauce is what will really make your meatballs shine. Choose a sauce that is flavorful and complements the flavor of the meatballs.
  • Serve the meatballs hot: Meatballs are best served hot, so make sure to reheat them before serving if they have been cooked ahead of time.

Conclusion:

Making holiday meatballs is a great way to bring your family and friends together. With a little planning and preparation, you can make delicious meatballs that everyone will love. So next time you're looking for a festive and easy-to-make dish, give holiday meatballs a try!
