Tips:

  • Choose the Right Cranberries: Select firm and plump cranberries for the best flavor and texture.
  • Wash and Sort the Cranberries: Rinse the cranberries thoroughly under cold running water and discard any soft or damaged berries.
  • Use Fresh Orange Juice: Freshly squeezed orange juice adds a bright and tangy flavor to the jelly. If using bottled juice, choose one with no added sugar.
  • Add Some Zest: Enhance the flavor of the jelly by adding some grated orange zest. This will give it a more complex and citrusy taste.
  • Simmer, Don't Boil: Bring the cranberry mixture to a simmer and maintain it for the recommended time. Boiling can cause the jelly to become too thick and rubbery.
  • Test the Jelly's Set: To check if the jelly is set, place a small spoonful on a chilled plate. If it wrinkles when you push it gently with your finger, it's ready.
  • Let the Jelly Cool: Allow the jelly to cool completely before refrigerating. This will help it to set properly.
