Chinese Beef and Broccoli Noodles image

Everybody's favourite Chinese Beef and Broccoli - with noodles! I make this in a large skillet because it serves 4 so there's too much for a wok. If you scale it down to serve 2 (use scaler by hovering over Servings), you can make this in a wok. See notes for how to make this with CHARLIE, my all purpose stir fry sauce. Recipe VIDEO below.

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion (sliced)
3 cloves garlic (minced)
1 cup bok choy (shredded)
9 ounce ramen noodles
2 tablespoon oyster sauce
2 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
2 tablespoon sesame oil
2 teaspoon rice vinegar
3 green onions (chopped)
2 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 large carrot (shredded or sliced thin)

Steps:

  • Cook Noodles: Cook the ramen noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Cook Beef: Heat the olive oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the ground beef and spread it out in the pan. Let it cook without touching it for at least 5 minutes or until all the meat juice has evaporated and there's a char on the bottom. Using a spatula flip the charred beef and toss it around.
  • Add veggies: Add the onion to the wok and cook for another minute, then add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds or until aromatic. Add the bok choy and carrot and cook for another minute or until the carrot wilts just a bit. Turn off the heat.
  • Stir in noodles and sauces: Add the noodles to the wok then add the oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, dark soy sauce, vinegar and sesame oil to the wok and toss until everything is well combined.
  • Garnish and serve: Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds and serve.

Tips:

  • Choose the right noodles: Use fresh, high-quality noodles for the best texture and flavor. Ramen noodles, udon noodles, or soba noodles are all good choices.
  • Cook the noodles properly: Be sure to cook the noodles according to the package directions. Overcooked noodles will be mushy and unpleasant to eat.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: Don't be afraid to experiment with different vegetables in your noodle dish. Broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, and snow peas are all good choices.
  • Make sure the sauce is flavorful: The sauce is what really makes a noodle dish special. Be sure to use a sauce that is flavorful and has a good balance of flavors.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When cooking the noodles and vegetables, be sure not to overcrowd the pan. This will prevent the noodles from cooking evenly and the vegetables from getting crispy.
  • Serve immediately: Noodle dishes are best served immediately after they are cooked. This will ensure that the noodles are still hot and the vegetables are still crisp.

Conclusion:

Noodle dishes are a delicious and versatile meal that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a little planning and effort, you can easily create a noodle dish that is both flavorful and satisfying. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, reach for your favorite noodles and start cooking!
