HOISIN CHICKEN STIR FRY

This is a great sweet and spicy stir fry.

Provided by Maddy HELEINE

Categories     Chicken

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 lb chicken breast
1 large red bell pepper
1 medium onion
6 oz fresh or frozen snow peas
1/2 c dry roasted peanuts
1/3 c hoisin sauce
salt and pepper to taste
2 Tbsp water
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
sugar to taste
2 tsp dry or freshly grated ginger
3 Tbsp peanut oil

Steps:

  • 1. Thinly slice bell pepper and onions. Cut chicken breasts into bite sized cubes, and lightly coat with salt and pepper. In a wok on medium high heat, fry thinly sliced bell pepper and thinly sliced onion in 2 tablespoons peanut oil until onions are slightly brown and peppers are soft. This will take about 5-7 minutes. Remove from wok and set aside.
  • 2. Add 1 tablespoon oil to wok and fry up chicken breast cubes until cooked. Stir in the ginger, red pepper flakes and snow peas, and add the previously fried bell pepper an onion back in. Fry until snow peas slightly soften.
  • 3. Reduce heat to medium low and stir in the hoisin sauce, water and peanuts. Cook for five minutes. Add sugar or artificial sweetener to taste. Serve over rice.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh vegetables and herbs will give your stir-fry the best flavor and texture.
  • Cut your vegetables evenly: This will help them cook evenly.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: If you overcrowd the pan, the vegetables will steam instead of stir-fry.
  • Cook the vegetables in batches if necessary: If you have a lot of vegetables, cook them in batches so that they don't overcrowd the pan.
  • Stir-fry the vegetables until they are tender-crisp: You don't want to overcook them, or they will become mushy.
  • Add the sauce at the end: This will help prevent the sauce from burning.
  • Serve immediately: Stir-fries are best served immediately after they are cooked.

Conclusion:

Hoisin chicken stir-fry is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is packed with flavor and vegetables, and it can be served with rice, noodles, or your favorite side dish. With a few simple tips, you can easily make a delicious and healthy stir-fry at home.
