HOBO DINNERS WITH GRAVY

Hobo Dinners With Gravy image

I know this is not the best written compared to most of the other entries, but I'm a 22 year old guy, so please forgive me. This is a great, easy to make meal that we make sometimes when we have company over, or if we are low on groceries because we almost always have this stuff around. Enjoy.

HOBO DINNER

Hobo Dinner image

This version of hobo dinner is one my mom and dad made when we were growing up. It uses smoked dinner sausage slices (Hillshire Farms, etc.) instead of ground beef or other meats. Everyone loves it. It only takes one dish to make this in, and it's an entire meal by itelf in my house. Amounts can be easily increased if more servings are needed. Keeps well in the refrigerator for 2-3 days, and is delicious reheated. Not sure if it can be frozen for later....

Tips:

  • Choose your potatoes wisely: Waxy potatoes, such as Yukon Golds or fingerlings, hold their shape better than starchy potatoes, such as Russets, when cooked in a hobo dinner.
  • Don't overcrowd the foil packet: Leave some space for the vegetables to steam and cook evenly.
  • Seal the foil packet tightly: This will help to keep the steam and juices inside the packet, resulting in a more flavorful and moist meal.
  • Cook the hobo dinners over medium-low heat: This will help to prevent the vegetables from burning.
  • Be patient: Hobo dinners take longer to cook than traditional grilled foods, so be sure to allow enough time for them to cook through.

Conclusion:

Hobo dinners are a delicious and easy way to enjoy a meal outdoors. They are perfect for camping, picnics, or backyard barbecues. With a little planning and preparation, you can create a hobo dinner that is sure to please everyone at your table. So next time you're looking for a simple and flavorful meal, give hobo dinners a try. You won't be disappointed!
