1 small green pepper, coarsely chopped
3 (15 ounce) cans red kidney beans
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 minced garlic cloves
1/4 teaspoon italian seasoning
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 1/2 tablespoons ground cumin
salt

Tips for Making Hillbilly Chili

  • Choose the right ground beef. For the best flavor, use a blend of 80/20 ground beef. This means that it contains 80% lean meat and 20% fat.
  • Brown the ground beef thoroughly. This will help to develop the flavor of the chili. If you're looking to save time, you can also cook the ground beef in a slow cooker.
  • Use a variety of beans. This will give your chili a more complex flavor and texture. Some good options include kidney beans, black beans, and pinto beans.
  • Don't skimp on the spices. Chili is a dish that should be full of flavor. Use a generous amount of chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder. You can also add other spices, such as oregano, paprika, or cayenne pepper.
  • Let the chili simmer for a long time. This will allow the flavors to meld together and develop. The longer you simmer the chili, the better it will taste.

Conclusion

Hillbilly chili is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a casual meal. It's also a great way to use up leftover ground beef. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give hillbilly chili a try. You won't be disappointed!
