Number Of Ingredients 13

CAKE:
1 box Duncan Hines Swiss Chocolate Cake Mix
1 small box instant vanilla pudding mix
2 cup buttermilk or 1 1/2 cups of milk
1 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs
ICING
6 Hershey candy bars
12 ounce cool whip
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup finely chopped pecans

Steps:

  • CAKE: Mix all cake ingredients together and bake at 350°F in 3x9-inch pans greased & floured for 30 to 35 minutes. Grate 5 Hershey candy bars in small bowl. Grate or shave the other bar and set aside for garnishing. You can cut back on the bars if desired by not using as many in the frosting. Beat powdered sugar, sugar and cream cheese. Fold in grated candy bars and chopped nuts. Then fold in cool whip. Let cake layers cool before assembling. Put 1 layer frosting on the plate you are going to serve it on. You can be generous with the frosting between each layer. Then lay another layer on top of the first layer. Put the last layer on top. Proceed on to frost the top and sides. Sprinkle the candy bar on top. Refrigerate.

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 box swiss chocolate cake mix, prepared as package directs. bake in 3 nine inch layers. set aside to cool.
FROSTING
8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
1 c confectioner's sugar
1/2 c granulated sugar
10 1.5 ounce hershey bars, with or without almonds
12 oz cool whip

Steps:

  • 1. For frosting, beat cream cheese, confectioner's sugar, and granulated sugar with electric mixer until creamy.
  • 2. Chop 8 candy bars into small pieces. I use grater and grate, allowing broken pieces to mix with grated candy.
  • 3. Fold candy into cream cheese mixture. Mix well.
  • 4. Add Cool Whip that has been allowed to thaw in refrigerator. Blend well.
  • 5. Spread icing on tops of each layer, then on sides of stacked layers. Chop remaining 2 candy bars and sprinkle on top of cake.
  • 6. Refrigerate cake.

Tips:

  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate Hershey's bars.
  • If you don't have buttermilk, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup of milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Don't overmix the batter, as this can result in a tough cake.
  • Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting it.
  • For a smooth and creamy frosting, use softened butter and cream cheese.
  • If you don't have a piping bag, you can use a plastic bag with the corner snipped off.
  • Decorate the cake with your favorite toppings, such as chocolate chips, sprinkles, or chopped nuts.

Conclusion:

The Hershey bar cake is a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own liking. With its rich chocolate flavor and creamy frosting, this cake is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
