Tips for Making Swedish-Style Herring Salad:

- Choose high-quality herring fillets. Look for fillets that are firm and have a silvery-white color. Avoid fillets that are soft or have a yellowish tinge. - If using fresh herring fillets, soak them in milk for 30 minutes before cooking. This will help to remove any excess salt and make the fillets more tender. - When cooking the herring fillets, be careful not to overcook them. Overcooked herring will be tough and dry. Cook the fillets just until they are opaque throughout. - Use a variety of vegetables in your salad. This will add flavor and texture to the dish. Some good choices include potatoes, carrots, beets, onions, and apples. - Be sure to use a good quality mayonnaise. This will make a big difference in the flavor of the salad. - Add some fresh herbs to the salad for extra flavor. Dill, parsley, and chives are all good choices. - Serve the salad chilled. This will help to keep the flavors fresh and bright. ###
