The secret to mushrooms that are beautifully browned and not watery is taking a hands-off approach. Stirring them as they caramelize releases the mushrooms' liquid and causes them to steam, so leaving them alone is the way to go.

HERBED MUSHROOMS WITH WHITE WINE FOR TWO RECIPE - (4.6/5)

Herbed Mushrooms with White Wine for two Recipe - (4.6/5) image

Provided by á-25010

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 1⁄2 pound fresh mushrooms
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 ⁄4 cup dry white wine
2 clove garlic, minced
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped

Steps:

  • Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Place mushrooms in the skillet, season with Italian seasoning, and cook 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Mix the wine and garlic into the skillet, and continue cooking until most of the wine has evaporated. Season with salt and pepper, and sprinkle with chives. Continue cooking 1 minute.

Tips:

  • Choose the right mushrooms. For this recipe, cremini mushrooms are a good choice because they have a firm texture and earthy flavor. You can also use other types of mushrooms, such as shiitake or oyster mushrooms.
  • Clean the mushrooms properly. Use a damp cloth to wipe the mushrooms clean. Do not wash them under running water, as this can make them soggy.
  • Slice the mushrooms evenly. This will help them cook evenly.
  • Use a large skillet. You want to make sure that the mushrooms have enough room to spread out and cook evenly.
  • Don't overcrowd the skillet. If you overcrowd the skillet, the mushrooms will steam instead of sautéing.
  • Cook the mushrooms over medium heat. This will help them to brown and develop flavor.
  • Stir the mushrooms frequently. This will help to prevent them from sticking to the skillet.
  • Season the mushrooms to taste. Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are all good options.
  • Add the white wine and herbs. White wine and herbs will add flavor and depth to the mushrooms.
  • Simmer the mushrooms until they are tender. This will take about 10 minutes.
  • Serve the mushrooms immediately. Herbed mushrooms with white wine can be served as a side dish or as an appetizer.

Conclusion:

Herbed mushrooms with white wine is a simple but delicious dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The mushrooms are tender and flavorful, and the white wine and herbs add a touch of sophistication. This dish is perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion.
