This was fantastic with spaghetti, my family loved it... in fact my husband tried to eat the whole thing. Keep in mind though, we love garlic at our house. If you are not a fan of strong garlic, streamline the amount until you are comfortable with it.

2 tablespoons raw granulated sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (about 110 to 115°F)
2 1/2 cups Immaculate Baking Co.™ Organic All-Purpose Flour, plus more as needed
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 teaspoons minced garlic
Pinch salt
1 cup finely shredded Cheddar Jack cheese, divided
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In small bowl, combine sugar and yeast. Pour warm water over sugar mixture and let stand 5 to 10 minutes until yeast is foamy.
  • Meanwhile, in large bowl or bowl of stand mixer with dough hook attachment, mix flour and salt until combined. Pour yeast mixture and oil into center of flour mixture; stir with wooden spoon or on low speed with dough hook just until dough forms. Transfer dough to well-floured surface and knead by hand 10 to 15 minutes, adding more flour 1 tablespoon at a time until dough is smooth, soft, elastic and only slightly sticky; OR, knead dough in stand mixer with dough hook 5 to 7 minutes on medium speed, adding more flour 1 tablespoon at a time until dough is smooth, soft, elastic and only slightly sticky. Transfer dough to lightly greased bowl; cover with plastic wrap and let rise in warm place 1 hour until doubled.
  • Heat oven to 400°F. Spray two 8-inch round cake pans with cooking spray. In small bowl, stir butter, parsley, garlic and pinch salt until well combined. Punch down dough and divide into 2 pieces. Place pieces on lightly floured surface and let rest 5 minutes, covered with clean kitchen towel. On floured surface, roll 1 piece dough into roughly 14x8-inch rectangle. Spread 2 tablespoons butter mixture evenly over dough. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup Cheddar Jack cheese and 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, plus a dash of black pepper. Roll up from long end into 14-inch log; pinch seam to seal.
  • With log seam side-down, carefully slice dough almost completely through into 1-inch rolls so rolls are still connected at bottoms. Lift dough and transfer carefully to prepared 8-inch pan. Arrange log into a ring in pan with rolls cut side-up. Repeat with remaining dough so you have 2 rings, 1 in each pan.
  • Spread or dollop remaining butter mixture over tops of rolls in pans. Cover pans and let dough rest 15 to 20 minutes. Bake bread 20 to 25 minutes until deep golden brown.

SIMPLE GARLIC & HERB BREAD CRUMBS

simple garlic & herb bread crumbs image

i didn't have any bread crumbs in the house the other night and i wanted to make my baked pork stew meat with garlic rice. so yup you guessed it i made my own. not real hard to do but it made my pork even tastier than when i use the store bought crumbs so here it is .

Provided by michelle 'FLAME' kelley

Categories     Other Breads

Time 1h50m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 large loaf of bread any kind really. i used rye and white
2 Tbsp minced garlic
1 Tbsp of each of the following, black pepper, sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, basil, oregano, cumin, sage and chicken seasonings
2/3 c melted butter, not margarine

Steps:

  • 1. heat oven to 450, prepare three to four cookie sheets with a light spray of non stick or use a thin smear of crisco. set aside.
  • 2. take each slice of bread and place on cookie sheets. when oven is preheated place sheets in oven but watch carefully as to not burn. you want to toast the breading but not burn it.
  • 3. once toasted on both sides to a golden brown remove from oven . reduce heat to 350
  • 4. melt butter either in microwave or on stove top. once completely melted stir in all the seasonings mentioned above. you can cut the salt out completely if you want to lower sodium.
  • 5. mix the seasoning and butter well. then lightly brush both sides of the bread with the seasonings. place back on cookie sheets and back into your lower heated oven. bake for another ten minutes on both sides. the bread will turn a dark brown but you don't want to burn the bread so be careful.
  • 6. shut your oven off and let cool with bread in the oven. open your oven door as to release the heat quicker. this will take about a half hour. let your toast cool but insure that your toast is dry on both sides of the bread. if not, turn your oven back on to 200 degrees. place toast back on sheets and back in the oven. this time let them sit in the cooler oven till the center of the bread is dry.i usually bring it to temp by preheating then shut the oven off. and with the door closed this time i let the oven cool again. once this is done and the bread is completely dry in the center i then place my bread in my food processor by breaking the bread into chunks and grinding it into coarse crumbs.
  • 7. the crumbs will stay fresh in a airtight container up to a week. do not place in the fridge as this will make the crumbs soggy and now be of any use.
  • 8. 18 slices of bread made enough seasoned crumbs to coat heavily four pounds of pork stew meat large chunks. with about 1/2 cup left over for something else.

Tips:

  • Choose the right bread: A sturdy bread like a baguette or sourdough is best for garlic bread, as it can hold up to the toppings without getting soggy. You can also use a softer bread like a ciabatta or focaccia, but be careful not to over-toast it.
  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh herbs and garlic will give your garlic bread the best flavor. If you don't have fresh herbs, you can use dried herbs, but be sure to use less, as they are more concentrated.
  • Don't skimp on the butter: Butter is what makes garlic bread so delicious, so don't be afraid to use a generous amount. You can use salted or unsalted butter, but if you use unsalted butter, be sure to add a little salt to taste.
  • Toast the bread before adding the toppings: This will help the bread to absorb the butter and garlic and prevent it from getting soggy.
  • Broil the bread until the cheese is melted and bubbly: This will give the garlic bread a nice, golden crust.

Conclusion:

Garlic bread is a delicious and versatile side dish that can be served with a variety of meals. It's easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. With a few simple tips, you can make the best garlic bread ever. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy side dish, give garlic bread a try. You won't be disappointed!
