Catfish with Broccoli & Herb-Butter Blend-Baked Recipe - (4.8/5) image

Provided by Sharon T

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (6-ounce) Farmed Channel Catfish
1 cup broccoli florets
1 serving herb-butter blend or flavored olive oil
aluminum foil
freshly ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Place the catfish on a 12-inch square piece of foil. Sprinkle fish with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Arrange broccoli florets around fish. Fold up the sides of the foil and crimp tightly to form a sealed packet. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until fish is flaky and broccoli is tender. Transfer to a dish, open foil, and top with a tablespoon of herb-butter blend or flavored olive oil.

Tips:

  • Select the right catfish: Choose firm and fresh catfish fillets with a mild, sweet flavor. Avoid fillets that are slimy or have an off odor.
  • Season the catfish well: Use a combination of herbs, spices, and citrus to season the catfish. This will help to enhance the flavor of the fish and make it more flavorful.
  • Don't overcook the catfish: Catfish is a delicate fish that can easily be overcooked. Cook the fish until it is just cooked through, but still flaky. Overcooked catfish will be tough and dry.
  • Serve the catfish immediately: Catfish is best served immediately after it is cooked. This will help to ensure that the fish is hot and flaky.

Conclusion:

Herb-baked catfish is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The combination of herbs, spices, and citrus flavors the catfish perfectly, and the fish is cooked to perfection in the oven. Serve the catfish with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or rice.
