Tips:
- To ensure your sweet potato casserole is extra creamy, use a combination of mashed sweet potatoes and evaporated milk. The evaporated milk adds a rich, velvety texture that perfectly complements the sweetness of the sweet potatoes.
- Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices and flavorings in your casserole. A pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger can add a warm, comforting flavor, while a tablespoon of brown sugar or maple syrup can add a touch of sweetness. You can also add a handful of chopped nuts, such as pecans or walnuts, for a crunchy texture.
- For a crispy, golden-brown topping, use a combination of brown sugar, melted butter, and chopped pecans. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the casserole before baking, and then bake until the topping is bubbly and browned.
- If you're short on time, you can use pre-cooked sweet potatoes to make your casserole. Simply mash the sweet potatoes and then follow the rest of the recipe as directed.
- Sweet potato casserole can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving. To reheat, cover the casserole and bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 30-45 minutes, or until heated through.
