HEATH BARS

Next to MARS bars, HEATH bars are my favorite candy bars. These baked bars are soooo good and rich and HEATH bars are the main ingredient, so they are a winner with me (and hopefully with you, too)!

MARGE'S HEATH BARS

Marge's Heath Bars image

I got this recipe from my step-mom Marge. She worked very hard at a small grocery store as a checker to help support all the extra kids she inherited. As she worked long hours, she never had a lot of time to bake. This is one of her treats. These really taste like the candy bar. Old blue recipe box

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 c brown sugar
2 sticks of butter (1 cup)
1/2 box keebler's: buttery club crackers (original)
1 c chocolate chips
1 c butterscotch chips

Steps:

  • 1. Oven: 350 degrees Butter a cookie sheet.
  • 2. Lay Keebler's Club original butter crackers over the bottom of a cookie sheet. Cover the bottom completely.
  • 3. Combine in a pan, the butter and brown sugar. Bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes.
  • 4. Spread this mixture over the crackers in the cookie sheet.
  • 5. Place sheet in a preheated oven for 5 minutes. Remove from oven.
  • 6. Mix together the chocolate and butterscotch chips and sprinkle over top of butter crackers. (I always add a few more chips)
  • 7. Return to oven for a few minutes for the chips to get glossy. The butterscotch chips take a little longer to melt than the chocolate chips.
  • 8. Remove cookie sheet from oven and spread the melted chips to cover the top. Cut into bars while warm. Refrigerate.
  • 9. Remove from cookie sheet when cold.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate. The better the chocolate, the better the Heath bars will taste. Look for chocolate with a high cocoa content (70% or higher) and a smooth, rich flavor.
  • Don't overcook the toffee. The toffee should be cooked to a golden brown color, but it should not be too hard or brittle. Otherwise, the Heath bars will be difficult to chew.
  • Let the Heath bars cool completely before cutting them. This will help to prevent them from crumbling.
  • Store the Heath bars in an airtight container at room temperature. They will keep for up to two weeks.

Conclusion:

Heath bars are a delicious and easy-to-make candy bar that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a candy bar that is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give this Heath bar recipe a try.
