Tips:
- Choose the right potatoes: Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes are best for chowder because they hold their shape well and create a creamy texture.
- Dice the potatoes evenly: This will ensure that they cook evenly.
- Don't overcrowd the pot: If you add too many potatoes to the pot, they won't cook evenly.
- Cook the potatoes until they're tender: This will take about 15 minutes.
- Add the ham and cheese towards the end of cooking: This will prevent them from overcooking.
- Season the chowder to taste: Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste.
