THE BEST TUNA SALAD

The Best Tuna Salad image

While we love many kinds of tuna salad, this classic version tops them all. The crispy celery and red onion give add zest and crunch, while mayonnaise and touch of mustard marry it all together. The lemon juice is optional as it's not traditional, but we strongly recommend it to brighten up the flavors of the final dish.

HEALTHY TUNA SALAD OR TUNA CEVICHE

Healthy Tuna Salad or Tuna Ceviche image

This recipe has been called both tuna salad but it really has little that resembles the typical tuna salad. My friends have also called it tuna ceviche and it would be a little more accurate at describing what this is. Is really healthy and it goes well with crackers or on tostadas. I make very little because I'm the only one who eats it so feel free to double or triple the recipe for bigger parties.

Tips:

  • For the best tuna salad or ceviche, use fresh, high-quality tuna. Look for tuna that is firm and has a mild, fresh smell.
  • If using canned tuna, choose tuna that is packed in water or olive oil, and not in oil. This will help to reduce the amount of fat and calories in your dish.
  • When making tuna salad, use a variety of vegetables to add flavor and texture. Some good options include celery, onion, cucumber, and tomatoes.
  • For a creamy tuna salad, use mayonnaise or yogurt as a binder. If you are watching your calories, you can also use mashed avocado.
  • For a tangy tuna salad, add some lemon juice or vinegar. You can also add some herbs, such as dill or parsley, for extra flavor.
  • To make tuna ceviche, use a citrus marinade to "cook" the tuna. This will give the ceviche a bright, acidic flavor.
  • Serve tuna salad or ceviche immediately or chill it for later. Both dishes can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Tuna salad and tuna ceviche are both delicious and healthy dishes that are perfect for a quick and easy meal. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and satisfying dish that is sure to please everyone. So next time you are looking for a healthy and delicious meal, give tuna salad or tuna ceviche a try.
