Time 25m

Yield 1 batch

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 cups diced onions
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 1/2 cups sour cream
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Steps:

  • In a saute pan over medium heat add oil, heat and add onions and salt. Cook the onions until they are caramelized, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool. Mix the rest of the ingredients, and then add the cooled onions. Refrigerate and stir again before serving.

Tips:

  • Use good quality ingredients: The better the ingredients you use, the better your dip will taste. Use fresh onions, a good quality cheese, and a flavorful broth.
  • Caramelize the onions slowly: Don't rush the process of caramelizing the onions. This will take about 30 minutes, but it's worth it. The slow cooking process brings out the sweetness of the onions and gives them a rich, complex flavor.
  • Use a variety of cheeses: Feel free to experiment with different types of cheeses to find your favorite combination. Some good options include Gruyère, Swiss, Parmesan, and mozzarella.
  • Make it ahead of time: This dip can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. This makes it a great option for parties or potlucks.
  • Serve it with your favorite dippers: This dip is delicious served with a variety of dippers, such as bread, crackers, vegetables, or chips.
