Tips:
- Mise en Place: As with all baking, it's essential to measure and prepare all your ingredients before you start mixing. This will help you stay organized and ensure that you don't forget anything.
- Use Cold Butter: Cold butter is essential for creating flaky scones. When the butter is cold, it will stay in small pieces as it bakes, creating pockets of steam that help the scones rise. If you use softened butter, the scones will be more dense and less flaky.
- Don't Overwork the Dough: Overworking the dough will make the scones tough. Mix the ingredients just until they come together, then stop. If you overwork the dough, the scones will be dense and crumbly.
- Chill the Dough: Chilling the dough before baking helps the scones hold their shape and rise properly. Chilling the dough also makes it easier to handle and cut.
- Bake the Scones Until Golden Brown: The scones are done baking when they are golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Be careful not to overbake the scones, or they will be dry and crumbly.
Conclusion:
These hazelnut chocolate chip scones are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a snack. The scones are light and flaky, with a tender crumb and a rich chocolate flavor. The hazelnuts add a nice nutty flavor and texture to the scones. These scones are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
