QUICK HAWAIIAN PIZZA

Quick Hawaiian Pizza image

Our family never quite liked the taste of canned pizza sauce, so one time I tried mixing some barbecue sauce into spaghetti sauce to add some sweetness. I've made my pizzas with this special and easy sauce ever since, and my family loves it! -Tonya Schieler, Carmel, Indiana

HAWAIIAN PIZZA PINEAPPLES

Categories     < 60 Mins

Time 50m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 (14 ounce) cans refrigerated ready-to-bake pizza dough, OR 20 ounces homemade pizza dough
2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for the pan
1/2 cup ricotta cheese
2 teaspoons italian seasoning
1 cup cubed ham
1/2 cup well-drained pineapple, bits
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
marinara sauce with scallion, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Brush each cavity of the Wilton Pineapple Cake pan with vegetable oil, making sure you get into all the crevices.
  • If using ready-to-bake pizza dough, unroll the dough from the cans. Cut each sheet of dough into 4 equal rectangles so you have 8 rectangles (you will only need 6 of these rectangles).
  • If using homemade pizza dough, roll it out on a well-floured work surface until it's 1/8 to 1/4-inch thick. Trim to make it an 18 x 18-inch square then cut that square into six 9 x 6-inch rectangles.
  • Place one rectangle of dough into a cavity of the pan and gently press down so it lines it. Add a layer of ricotta cheese, then pineapple chunks, cubed ham, mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning on top. The cavity should only be about 1/3 to 1/2 full - the fillings should not come to the top as you need to allow space for the dough to rise when baked. Fold the edges of the dough rectangle over the filling, letting them overlap - trim any dough off that seems excessive. Press firmly to seal.
  • Repeat this to fill all of the cavities of the pan.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until the pizza dough is starting to brown on top.

Leftover Ham, Crescent Roll dough-Fun New Meal!! The crispy Bacon added to this dish makes it delicious!

Provided by Michelle Wolf

Categories     Pizza

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 8

cubed or thinly sliced shaved ham
mozzarella cheese-shredded
provolone cheese-shredded
2 Tbsp butter
2 clove garlic minced fine
drained pineapple chunks
1 tsp italian seasoning
chopped crispy bacon

Steps:

  • 1. Set aside Ham, Shredded Cheeses and Crispy bacon. Pre heat oven to recommended temp on crescent roll package. Roll out crescent rolls. I didn't give any measurement on the main ingredients-make as many as you like or have on hand for.
  • 2. In a saute pan, saute butter, garlic, pineapple chunks and italian seasoning. I like the infusion of flavor by adding the pineapple to this mix.
  • 3. Assemble roll ups. Place a small dollop of pineapple mix, layer cheese and a piece of ham along with crumbled bacon on crescents and roll up. place seam side down on cookie sheet and bake until golden and bubbly. The bacon really makes this dish special. This can also be made as "whole" pizza's by rolling out crescents on a cookie sheet and pressing the seams together. Or, just by pizza dough-same result! ENJOY!!

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Dough: Use a store-bought pizza dough or make your own using your favorite recipe. Ensure the dough is thin and pliable for easy folding.
  • Prepare the Dough Properly: Before filling and folding, let the dough rest and come to room temperature. This will make it easier to work with and prevent tearing.
  • Use Quality Ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will greatly impact the taste of your pizza pockets. Opt for fresh, flavorful toppings and a good quality pizza sauce.
  • Don't Overfill the Pockets: Avoid overfilling the pockets with toppings, as this can make them difficult to fold and seal properly.
  • Seal the Pockets Tightly: Ensure the pockets are sealed tightly before baking to prevent the fillings from leaking out during cooking.
  • Bake at High Temperature: Bake the pizza pockets at a high temperature to achieve a crispy crust and melted cheese.
  • Serve with Dipping Sauce: Accompany the pizza pockets with a dipping sauce of your choice, such as marinara, garlic butter, or ranch dressing.

Conclusion:

Hawaiian pizza pockets are a delightful and versatile snack or meal that combines the flavors of pizza and a handheld pastry. With their crispy crust, melted cheese, and savory-sweet fillings, these pockets are sure to satisfy cravings and bring joy to your taste buds. Experiment with different toppings and fillings to create a variety of unique and delicious pizza pocket combinations that will impress your family and friends.
