HAWAIIAN ICED TEA

Hawaiian Iced Tea image

I first tasted this tea in a popular Italian restaurant in my college hometown of Kailua. I have been craving it ever since, and have experimented with a few proportions. Add more tea leaves for a stronger tea, but do not steep longer or the tea will end up tasting bitter. (If it does, add a pinch of baking soda.) Always make something to your liking! This is also great to serve at showers.

Time 5m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 gallon brewed iced tea, chilled
4 cups unsweetened pineapple juice
1 (12 ounce) can mango nectar
Splenda sugar substitute (optional)
1 lemon, sliced (optional)
1/2 fresh pineapple, diced (optional)
2 kiwi, peeled and diced (optional)

Steps:

  • Stir first 3 ingredients together, add splenda to taste if desired, and chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Garnish with lemon slices, diced pineapple chunks on skewers, and or diced kiwi.

Tips:

  • For the best Hawaiian iced tea, use freshly brewed black tea. You can use any type of black tea you like, but a strong, full-bodied tea like Assam or Ceylon will give you the best flavor.
  • Let the tea cool completely before adding the other ingredients. This will help to prevent the tea from becoming bitter.
  • Use fresh pineapple juice for the best flavor. You can also use canned pineapple juice, but it will not be as good.
  • Add the sugar and lemon juice to taste. You can also add a bit of honey or agave nectar if you prefer.
  • Serve the Hawaiian iced tea immediately over ice. You can garnish it with a slice of pineapple or a sprig of mint.

Conclusion:

Hawaiian iced tea is a refreshing and delicious drink that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. So next time you are looking for a refreshing drink, give Hawaiian iced tea a try. You won't be disappointed!
